Chapter 22: A Union of Old - Lord Iezkon - 26-04-2023

“After the Ascension of Lord Saltaeon to that august position, the Horuset Powerbase settled into a new status quo- though the heavy cross of the pyrrhic victory on Dubrillion yet hung over it like a shadow. Yet, this new calm would last for but a few days as, almost immediately upon the powerbase’s return to the Capital, new schemes and battles erupted."

“Firstly, finding bravado where before was subservience, Sith Irizka separated himself from the Arvanis Sphere and his position as Sith Apprentice to Sith Arvanis in a public announcement- only to be challenged by Sith Arvanis. Only by the will of the Dark Lord was this squabble ended: She called for a public gathering of the powerbase, resulting in the ascension of Lord Saltaeon to that august position of Lord of the Sith."

“Secondly, by the decree of the Hand of Horuset, Lord Kalkoran, Sith Tarimra was taken on as an Apprentice- alongside Apprentice Eddi Hozan, whose bonds of Apprenticeship to Sith Tarimra were severed in that same moment, returned to his former place under the wing of Lord Kalkoran. So too were Acolyte Trials decreed once more by the Overseers, heralding the emergence of a new generation of Apprentices. Swiftly, this was followed by another announcement by the Dark Lord and Her Hand: Priority Aurek: Sernpidal."

“To most of the Household Sith and Sith Lords of the Horuset Powerbase, including the Dark Lord and Her Hand, Lord Kalkoran, a mission was assigned to aid the production and relevance of Sernpidal, the jewel of the Horuset Powerbase: shipyards in the northern territories of the Empire. The Sernpidal Shipyards had been starved of resources during the ongoing war with the Republic and the resource crisis in which such resulted: as such, each mission was designed to gather further aid and resources for the shipyards so that they might resume production."

“And so, each of those who had been assigned a mission set about their preparations, and once more resources slowly began trickling back into Sernpidal: the shipyards of the jewel in the crown of the Powerbase humming with activity. Once more, the Sernpidal Shipyards worked for the benefit of the powerbase and the Empire--yet even with the powerbase working as one to restore the glory of its Jewel, the scheming and politics were not done."

“Ensign Vareniu of Leviathan Squad bested the Commander of the Horuset Guard in single combat and so claimed his position at the head of the Horuset Guard, , the black-cloaked bodyguards of the Dark Lord Herself. An example of her bravery, dedication, and ambition for the betterment of the powerbase and the Empire as a whole. So, even the Horuset Guard, statuesque as ever, was not immune to the changes induced by focused ambition, and a grand achievement was recognised in the Ensign’s conquest."

“The Dark Lord of Horuset and Her Hand, Lord Kalkoran, had been two individuals, bound by a shared ideal of focused determination, ambition, strength, and a traditionalist mindset. Ideals embodied in the Horuset Bloodline, and heralded by its Matriarch and Her Hand. Yet, not anymore. By the combined will of the Dark Lord and Lord Kalkoran, it was announced that for the betterment of the powerbase, for it to be headed by an immovable pair of paragons bonded in the unity of ideals and speaking with a singular voice, Trakaton Kalkoran would become Trakaton Horuset, marrying the Dark Lord and becoming her Ijta."

“And so, their will was done. A grand ceremony realised, gifts presented, and a rule cemented as two become one: the powerbase centralised even further around the two figures that had united it for decades. And so it would forevermore be: alike a union of old in the days of yore, so now was tradition embodied in two individuals, speaking with a singular voice for the betterment and unity of the Horuset Powerbase.”
