OOCly: A 'Crisis' is a new form of event style/RP inspiration formed out of Operations but with a twist and slightly more member (That's you!) control in the outcome. Every few weeks a new crisis will appear on the front page with some IC info about a planet and a link to the person who has made the crisis. When this happens people are able to come up with little missions and tasks to go and do during free RP to influence this story, almost like a mini campaign, with the setup discussed with the creator and the result fed back to them.

ICly: Your characters would easily and clearly be able to find this report of a planet in crisis, reacting to it as they wish. Now, obviously those restricted from going about as they please (I am looking at you acolytes) will need to get permission to go on some of these (We may host these on Dromund Kaas or Korriban in the future on a less than planetary scale) which obviously will need to be done ICly. But, once our characters have found a way to go to wherever the crisis takes them this time, they just go! And the RP is carried out, with the result being recorded.
Instead this is meant to inspire in the moment free RP that you just go and do. It will require everyone to input on the results and the help one another create a story/mission as partners and equals within the loose boundaries that the creator sets from which a story directed by you guys can be forged. The outcome on the crisis will be dependant on what you guys do (or don't do) which is why at the end you need to feedback the results of the mission. Of course this means we want you guys to be realistic, we are not all powerful nor do we win every time (The Sith loose all the time as it is because we are the bad guys) and so if all we are getting is endlessly five star performances then the process will be reexamined because, as is always the way, this is about story, it's not about being the 'best'. At the end of it all the crisis will be replaced with a conclusion of sorts where people can publically see what happened as a result of all the little missions that took place across the guild.

What happens when characters might hurt one another?

How does it happen? Our characters will fight and compete, it is part and parcel with the darker RP we choose and so cannot be avoided. However, RPing in constant fear that everyone who walks past could impale your character and end your story is an incredibly anxious thing and can ruin your enjoyment. So, what often happens is people talk OOCly, agreeing to the highest level of harm that can be a consequence. In such a situation, fantastic! With an agreed level of harm you can work to there is no need to think about escalation.

Yet, sometimes the pair cannot agree and so we are left with a heated scenario over characters and nobody being able to agree to which level of harm is the ceiling. In this scenario someone can apply (by simply asking an officer or sub-officer) for escalation where the limit of harm is set to those involved by the guild. This is then followed by providing a list of the IC reasons behind why a character might want to harm the other, the officer/sub-officer will then examine the reasons and make a judgement on how high the ceiling is on consequences.

The need to apply for escalation starts when your character is attempting to bring harm upon another at the level of MAIMING. This can either be done personally, or through telling another character to do so. The definition of maiming, in regards to the guild’s stance, is the permanent loss of a physical attribute from the pinky toe up to an entire leg. If, after you've politely (with regards to RP etiquette) whispered them about the intentions of your character and they disagree with the current course but you strongly feel this is how your character would act, then this is the point in time where you would apply for escalation with an officer/sub-officer. Anything lower than maiming whereby injuries can heal (e.g broken bones, heavy beat down, scarring etc) does not require officer/sub-officer approval, just good old fashioned communication between the roleplayers involved. Even if a chat isn’t necessary, we'd prefer if you all had great communication as this builds the strongest foundation for good roleplay and a good community attitude. It is expected for players issuing orders for maiming or killing to have already gone through the consent and potentially escalation process before the order is even given ICly.

The characters will then both be liable to the same level of consequence until the escalation is resolved. Speaking of resolution...

Does escalation ever end? Yes! The whole process of harming other characters has, as you can see, been filled with lots of OOC conversation. Escalation ends once the two parties agree to a resolution to their issues. That can be positively or negatively. For example, if the two characters have a lovely picnic and become friends, thus forgetting their differences, and so the escalation ends. If violence takes place then that is what happens, but of course this can then - in the future - be taken into account when someone else is applying for escalation.

What you might get along the way is entirely the business of your RP and as such I shan't state any OOC imposed restrictions here. These technological devices come with a Horuset account to connect to our servers and use to access the Imperial holonet. Acolytes are ICly restricted in access to many things, however everything in the IC section of enjin, unless stated otherwise, is accessible on that account. This also accounts to access to the library effects as well; acolytes are not given access to the most ancient and informative texts however some basic guides and certain pieces of primary lore we collect IC would be accessible.
This doesn't mean everything you write ICly can be seen by these ghouls of the net, taking appropriate measures can hide information from this, however in IC pieces this MUST be made very clear - as in what measures are taken - because otherwise ICly it will be assumed to originate from a Horuset section and if your character is spamming things that might get them into trouble then they could be picked up by those scary people with guns and bags to go over your head.

Welcome to our little RP community based in the game SWTOR on the Darth Malgus server. Now, whilst we want everyone to be free to enjoy themselves and do as they please, we also need to be clear on what we expect of people to keep us a happy smiling gang. SO, without further ado, the rules.

Show RESPECT. This goes without saying but at all times we must be courteous and respectful, a joke is all well and good but unnecessary slandering will not be accepted.

An officer's word is FINAL. If they make a decision, you are more than welcome and encouraged to open a private dialogue, but that officer is the one who decides when the conversation is done and their resolution will come into effect.

Debate is all well and good, but we are not a community for you to gripe, groan and moan about every little thing that happens or debate every topic under the sun. We are an RP community and officers are not here to just keep you in line whilst you chat about politics/religion/whatever it is you want to discuss.

All OOC drama will be shut down immediately. It will not be tolerated and the public chats will be free of any of this.

Lore is to be followed as closely as we possibly can. Yes, people like to RP what they like, but we want really realistic RP. This does not mean you need to know everything, it just means if an officer calls you out on something, we are just doing it for us all to learn more about this universe we love.

Be a good and decent person in public on SWTOR. This means don't go into the general chats and grief other players or guilds because you wear our tag, and we will not tolerate trolling a community we want to RP with.

Please, please, have fun.

Make as many memes as you can.

If we feel you have acted in a way that breaks out rules or is not what we expect from members, you will receive a warning. These warnings do not 'expire' or have a date they no longer count. We simply record them, and, if you receive multiple warnings in a short period of time, we will take action.
