We reach for perfection with such fervor that reality itself caves around us and, through the Force, molds itself according to our will. No rule or law can truly constrain that which reaches the height of mastery of oneself, of life, of death, and of the Dark Side.

One reaches for perfection through endless sacrifice and rebirth, shedding time and time again those excess parts of our former selves that keep us from ascension. To be Sith is to die a thousand deaths and still not let death claim you. Each death whittles away the weaknesses and imperfections that keep us chained, until such a time that they can no longer bear to hold us.

To say that I am better suited than my peers to reach it would be foolish. I am aware of my weakness and insignificance, and I know that I have not yet died to shed the weakness that holds me here. However, I am unbound and unburdened by a name that chains and molds me, a destiny writ by another to carry on their legacy due to their failure to realize their own. I have been cast out and abandoned, but in that I find freedom. Freedom to grow and become, beyond anything my blood has previously tried to impose.

I am suited to die, and die again - in pursuit of a destiny of my choosing. My blood holds many keys, but no unseen hand or name will dictate which doors I open. That choice is mine, and therefore I can pursue true perfection.

The Sith are much more than that, Sith break the cords of restraint that would seek to bind us in mediocrity.

To me, being Sith means freedom. Freedom from submission, morality imposed upon us by those below us, freedom from guilt. The Jedi would praise these chains, their denying of their true selves as some sort of enlightenment. I personally do not subscribe to such nonsense. We do not hide from our emotions, we embrace them. The Sith are because we dare to look within, we dare to understand ourselves. We do not pretend fear does not exist, nor do we deny our hatred, we master it, we harness it. Passion is not something to be cast aside, it is the fire that drives us forward. We also see past the illusion because suffering strips that illusion away. When everything is taken from you, your belongings, your life, even your name, then you see who you truly are, your hunger, your will. In those moments, you’re forced to dig deep within, channel your passion, pain and anger into what drives you to your goal of self realisation. That’s what it means to be Sith to me, it is the ultimate manifestation of self realisation.

The Sith Code isn’t just a mantra, it’s a promise. “Through Passion, I gain Strength, through Strength, I gain Power, through Power, I gain Victory, through Victory, my chains are broken.” Unlike the Jedi’s feckless code that glorifies restraint, denial and forever binds its followers to mediocrity, rotting away in their stagnation, never truly realising their full potential. The Sith drive forward, forever striving for more. The Sith code proves that its followers shall never plateau.

I understand restraint. It disgusts the Jedi because they misunderstand its meaning, but it also disgusts the Sith because most lack the discipline to wield it. Restraint is not mercy, it’s precision. A blade swung wildly kills indiscriminately; a blade guided perfectly changes history.

But why am I more suited than other acolytes? Because I myself am willing to do whatever it takes to become Sith, any reservations I had, any hesitation to strive forward was cut out of me long ago. Everything I have accomplished in and out of the Sith order has led me to this realisation.

I cannot fail because I refuse to fail. My will, my passion, my hunger for knowledge only serve to push me closer to that goal. Many in my position would’ve fallen away, perished without so much as grasping this reality. Preamble

The darkside and its affiliated, though naturally heavily associated with the darkside of the force, have a reach far beyond the force users who wield their emotions to perform the daily miracles we’ve grown accustomed to. The darkside is a broader set of principles and doctrines that in their enforcement have influenced the culture and actions of many a civilization throughout history, Sith and non-Sith, force user based and non force user based. This fact, while initially surprising to some, becomes plainly clear when one comes to understand that the darkside is fundamentally connected to the nature of the universe with its counter, the light side also having its share of influence in creation. Whether or not this feud between the two is intrinsic and required for the universe to even exist, one cannot ignore the fact that they are in conflict, have been and for all likelihood shall continue to be. This struggle remains constant despite the fact that the lenses through which each is viewed has changed significantly throughout history. The nature of the forces themselves however remains ever stagnant.

It is accordingly the duty of us all to recognize the state in which we live, the state in which the darkside and the ideals surrounding it exist, documenting and commenting on it accordingly. That is the purpose of this dissertation, to offer a certain understanding for a more cohesive and constructive point of view on the way things are and the way, perhaps, they should be.

The Darkside Itself

The darkside itself can be crudely summarized with a simple universal rule, a rule that applies in both a secular and spiritual context, regarding the individual or the collective, a matter of cognition or nature and everything in between. The rule in question being the simple truth: “A being, any being’s, capacity to exist and influence reality is solely determined by its specific own ability to exist.” In essence, a being's right to exist in general or its right to exist in a specific state of affairs is conditional on its ability to bring about said existence. The natural state of the universe is to ingrain decay and entropy. Accordingly survival requires struggle, if one does not struggle, one ceases to exist. Accordingly existence naturally selects and favors struggle and will to power.

Accordingly one develops a hierarchical understanding of existence in which a concept is simply superior in an objective sense by its greater ability or will to exist. Following this understanding emerge various additional notions and concepts such as a blatant rejection of any false notions of existence, be it the egalitarian idea of general equality and rights for all or in any notion that establishes a false hierarchy in which one weaker would rule over one stronger because of a misattribution of power not in line with the rule of the darkside. The first principle’s justifications are rather plainly given. If we recognize that the universe is governed by the rules of the darkside, that those that fail to muster sufficient will are doomed to extinction, then you necessarily develop an anti-egalitarian position. The weak are doomed to eradication. To lift them up, to expend one’s own power for their benefit is folly and only ensures that one’s rivals who don’t engage in such sacrifices will overpower you. Wherever egalitarianism exists it is entirely an artificial construction, doomed by the laws of nature to eventual extermination only prolonged by the amount of the powerful the principle can successfully dupe into following it.

That second part is also of great importance and particular relevance to the Sith Empire. There are a multitude of views among the present Sith, regarding the matter of purity of blood. A prime facie understanding of the principle of the darkside would perhaps induce someone to a rather firm radical ‘meritocratic’ stance. This is certainly a strong position held by some within the Empire when considering the alien question in regards to the Sith Order specifically or the Sith Empire at large. However, a more careful examination is called for. Given Sith traditions of a hierarchy of purity are well, traditional, it begs the question that if this supposedly purity blind account of the darkside is so clearly demanded, why have the Sith for eons rejected it. The old cannot be simply tossed out as some would demand, the legends of the past are too grand to be dismissed as fools. What are they missing then? Their attempt to operationalize competence and skill in simple notions leave them blind to the esoteric, and too radically devoted to the practical. We are more than a nation of warriors and servants. The Sith as a being is of a higher order in quality as well as degree. A broader view is called for one where additional facets, including the traditional facet of blood purity can play a significant, even decisive role. One should not be too rash to impose without due a thought one hierarchy or another as the true one. A false hierarchy is as harmful as a lack of one entirely.

Despite this understanding regarding the nature of the darkside there are complications that arise when trying to put theory into practice. An objective rule becomes muddied in a subjective world where people must, at the end of the day, make determinations. Something I shall be examining in the following sections.

The Sith

The Sith, both individually and as an order have emerged as the vanguards of the concepts, ideas, and principles of the darkside of the force and are in essence the result of implementing the ideas in practice, albeit with a strong focus on the force specifically. It is important to note however how much more far reaching the Sith are than their relation to the force. It is no coincidence the intergalactic nations that spring up around light side practitioners have fundamentally very little to do with the light side practitioners themselves while the empires that the Sith craft around themselves are accordingly named Sith Empires.

It is because the darkside far more than its counterpart exacts a universality in its doctrine to apply to all things or perhaps this can simply be seen as a result of the darkside’s comprehension on the nature of hierarchy and accordingly on the nature of power and its wide ranging enforcement on others, even those not connected directly to the force. Either way these notions regarding the Sith have resulted in one of the most notable characteristics emerging, the contradictory practice that comes into being. Is the darkside a matter of individual supremacy or collective supremacy? Many elements of this are born out when examining things like the Sith code and the Sith Empire.

The Sith Code ostensibly a personal guide to true freedom from the perspective of an individual, while also having an element of a broader prophecy surrounding a Sith’ari, an individual representing the ultimate ideals of the penultimate hierarchy with truly just one individual, one concept at the very top. On the other hand however the themes the Sith code addresses are in many ways collective, without that they would have no meaning. Passion, strength, power, and victory. Concepts and notions that cannot exist solely with the self. Passion always addresses an external desire, strength and power both meaningless without comparison to the more or less strong and powerful and not to mention victory always standing as victory over something else. All of these themes point to a broader theme amongst the Sith, the fact that they themselves form an order of many individuals includes within it a recognition of the strength of uniting and cooperating, an acceptance that the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts and a drive for a higher purpose that goes beyond the self. This itself can be seen in the Sith Empire as well, the very institutions of it are individually hierarchical with a supreme ruler at the top but yet as a broader institution it mandates cooperation even to the detriment of the determination of the true superior force amongst the group in favor of broader cooperative goals.

In these ways the Sith embrace a doctrine of compatibility around the darkside. One that sees not contradiction but affinity with an ideology of supremacy being both individualistic and collective in its nature. Yet in many ways the recognition of the greater supremacy achieved as a group compared to the ultimate supremacy of a single individual on top has, in many ways defined the Sith and I imagine shall continue to define them, eras of consensus notwithstanding.

The Force

The force is a fundamental aspect of the universe, although rather distinct from a scientific perspective to other fundamental aspects of the universe such as physics, it too operates on its own laws and behavioral tendencies if a bit more elusive to the intelligent minds of our age. The darkside accordingly is understood to be an aspect of the force and although the darkside in its nature seeks to enforce a specific ideal or rather a rule on existence it would be a misunderstanding to then attribute this tendency to the force itself. The force is always acted upon by the will of those with the capabilities to interact with it. In that sense it is a fundamentally passive thing.

Practitioners of the darkside of the force achieve their various miracles through a particular method of interaction with the force. One informed by the ideals of the darkside. The various abilities associated with force users or darkside practitioners are seen as an expression of their will brought forth from wielding the force. It is vital to understand what is meant by this language. People are said to be wielding the force the same way one would wield a blade or a blaster, as a tool interacted with through one's will for something to happen. The force’s interaction with an individual is far more fundamental. While an individual fueled by emotions can see a more effective result from wielding a blade or even a blaster the force directly correlates and interacts with it. Through the use of powerful emotions like fear and anger a practitioner of the darkside enhances their own willpower insofar as the force is concerned. As a part of enhancing one's willpower one is provided by the force access to greater power however this alone is not enough.

Just like with a blade or blaster, power that is not tempered by technique will fail to produce much of anything. Accordingly, to truly excel in the application of the force one must be disciplined and learned in the techniques of wielding it. But that is ofcourse a matter practically anyone learned in the force is fully aware of. Understanding of the force and the way it works in relation to the darkside is vital to a broad understanding of the darkside itself. The force serves as the most raw expression of power and through power one comprehends superiority in a broader hierarchical system. The tenants that apply to the force can accordingly be applied to a plethora of other doctrines and professions, even those of non force users because of its status as being the most raw form of this expression.

Governance

Governance and politics are fundamentally questions of how power should be arranged in a given society. Matters of specific policy come secondary as a result of the initial distribution of power. Individuals will support what they support but the question is then, will they have the power to enact it upon reality. When one relates this concept to the darkside one quickly finds the similarities in subject matter. While the darkside is more universal in the rule it prescribes on reality, governance, in so far as sentient beings and concerned, is one of the most important aspects in power relations in their lives and given the darkside’s doctrine rests precisely on power relations one can see how they become intertwined and why it is only natural that the darkside form a government around its ideals and won’t simply exist as a mode of thought for individuals.

One can then determine in examination of political concepts in their relation to any darkside governmental organization, three major tenants. These tenants are:Supremacy of Power, Hierarchy and Absolutism. Supremacy of Power means that society is organized along lines of power. Power’s fickle nature accordingly means that the society undergoes constant evolution. As the weak are tossed aside and replaced by the powerful along every rung of organization it is seen that society itself benefits. This is contrasted with other doctrines, such as the supremacy of law that subjugates all to the abstract or more concretely, to the will of the law which can and often is, the will of the weak. A government founded on the principles of the darkside cannot abide such a restriction, such an imposition of a false ruler.

The second matter of hierarchy is of course naturally expected when discussing the darkside. Hierarchy being of course an organizational structure in which people are ordered on a ladder of superiority and inferiority and in which power is accordingly allotted to individuals based upon it. In a government structure one must assign the darkside mandated correlation between ability and eventual power with a system in which those with greater ability rank simply to be better than those with less in every meaningful way a matter of superiority and inferiority can manifest itself in a government system.

The final tenant of Absolutism ensures purity of doctrine in this matter. With supreme control of the faculties of state centralized one can make sure that the doctrines in question are maintained throughout as there is an understanding that dissent and deviation from these doctrines and notions leads to broader failures that can crumble a system. Through an absolutist and consequentialist analysis of its results one reaches the determination of its necessity when enforcing any such broad ranging doctrine throughout a society.

Conclusion

In this dissertation I’ve made an effort to explain the various ways the darkside interacts with the world around us. From natural things like the force to the socially constructed institutions we create as sentient beings. At the same time this document serves as an argument against its rejection, explaining simply the universality and the validity of its arguments and how logically accordingly it should be applied universally. Although as with all philosophies all is a matter of contention, given how such things have an even greater influence on our lives than the laws of physics, we should be prepared to undertake whatever efforts necessary to see the truth emerge as supreme above all other falsehoods. These ideas themselves then justify the total destruction and suppression of all not in line with the goal of the evangelization of the darkside throughout all known existence. Such is the duty of the Sith and through this the hope is that a greater understanding can facilitate a greater effectiveness in carrying out such duties.

Whether you be and Acolyte or a Lord of the Sith, you answer to someone above you, as such there are formal greetings and informal ones that are expected or appreciated to be performed, for most, a bow is required such as an Acolyte passing anyone above or an Apprentice passing a Household Sith, however there are other circumstances that may need to be considered. While for an Apprentice and their master it is not required but seen as good mannered to kneel before them as any would before a Dark Lord of the Sith, is a respectful sign of authority and dignity.

Lining up and Formation:

For a long time, when in a meeting or called before the Dark Lord, Sith will be separated by Rank and Race, before now this has suited well, I say as Pentarch of Doctrine, no longer. All aliens will stand at the back of the formation, exception made for the Pentarchs whom must all be assembled before the Dark Lord. The alien must be further segregated from the Pure and the Humans, whom will maintain current lining formation, separated by rank behind the Pentarchs.

Duelling and Challenges:

When Duels and Challenges are made publicly, as the heirs of Korriban and the Blood of Warriors, it is our solemn duty to ensure the correct tradition is carried out properly, the two duelling Sith are to gather within an arena of combat, typically this has been either the Th'Asidra training room or the Upper Estate Training room, where the two will be observed by their fellow Sith as they fight till either one yields in disgrace or dies. Acolyte Krixxus' Reflection

The excerpt, dating to 1600 BTC, is a recovered portion of the writings by a long since forgotten Sith Lord. Covering Sith Alchemy, The Author has written about the history of the art, the creations of Organic Alchemy, Inorganic Alchemy and general advice on the introduction into the ancient art and a warning for those who might pursue its aspects. Likely subconsciously, The Author has committed what I would consider the sins of contradiction, stagnation and modulation.

History of Sith Alchemy:

The Author writes on how the Ancient Sith, namely Kissai and Zuguruk, developed the Ancient art of Sith Alchemy over the centuries. History, or legends as described by The Author, suggest that the Dark Lord Sorzus Syn found the Ancient Sith and learned the Art of Alchemy before building upon the foundation that had been taught to her and by pushing the limits and established order of Alchemy has 'nearly perfected' the art - as suggested by The Author.

Nature of Sith Alchemy

Sith Alchemy, by nature, is the defiance of the natural order through the combined application of scientific method and Sith Ritualism. The properties of life and matter can be enhanced, twisted or entirely transformed to be greater than the sum of their parts; with the limits being the will, ambition and potency of the Alchemist involved.

Creations of Inorganic Alchemy

Inorganic Alchemy is the practice of taking Sith ritualism and blending it with the material to form objects of varying power. Obvious examples are battery amulets and Sith Warblades, yet more complex creations such as amulets of power or Sith Runes can be made with less predictable purposes. An opportunity to celebrate his own achievements is taken in discussing the Aximand Amulet, an amulet of specific power. The Aximand Amulet is testament to the truth that Inorganic Alchemy is limited by its owner's creativity, where many follow the beaten path in established creations or focus on only the offensive applications, The Author has created an amulet of protection that has saved his life from poison on 17 occasions at the time of writing - along with the implication the amulet has been perfected as a 'work of art'.

Creations of Organic Alchemy

Through the careful and meticulous modification of the flesh creatures that stand in defiance of the natural order, known as Sithspawn, are created by Alchemists, with some of the more famous being named as War Hydras and Tuk'ata. Tuk'ata are a prime example of how the will of Alchemists has forever changed entire ecosystems, with these apex predators reproducing and dominating landscapes to this day.

The Author identifies Organic Alchemy as being a natural progression from Inorganic Alchemy, citing the Theory of Natural Resistance allowing living cells to resist the influence of an Alchemist as the reason. An implication that one art is greater than the other.

Sins of The Author

In this excerpt The Author has subconsciously committed various sins against the Ancient Arts, and his own legacy, the sins being; Contradiction, Modulation and Stagnation.

Contradiction - The Author has established Organic Alchemy as being more dangerous, and greater than, Inorganic Alchemy in his writings. Yet, in his attempts to warn the ambitious that the greater of the two schools should be approached with caution, a lack of clarity has muddied his warning into one easily misinterpreted. The misinterpretation that The Author fears Organic Alchemy has been seen by many as a weakness unbecoming of one who chooses to specialise as a Sith Alchemist.

Stagnation - The Author writes of the Aximand Amulet as a 'work of art' with no mention of any intent to build upon and improve his designs whilst also writing that the Dark Lord Sorzus Syn 'nearly perfected' Sith Alchemy. Venture out into the Empire of today, a setting where a great deal of Alchemical Knowledge has been lost and must be re-discovered, and there will be Alchemists who have equalled or surpassed the Aximand Amulet. Given that he has taken to writing his tomes with this being the only true mention of achievement, and the implication that Alchemy has limits, The Author can be assumed to believe he has reached the zenith his power in a way that is worth documenting and has accepted the rot of stagnation.

Modulation - The Author has clearly chosen to specialise as an Alchemist and it is evident that he is aware of the toll that the Dark Side enacts for a fraction of its power, with a particular emphasis placed upon the potency experienced from Organic Alchemy. Yet, despite clearly flaunting a perceived achievement in Inorganic Alchemy, The Author has not named any achievements in the field of Organic Alchemy. In choosing to specialise as an Inorganic Alchemist and neglect the other fields, The Author has limited himself as an Alchemist as a whole. Falling into the sin of Modulation.

These sins of The Author have a simple effect, he became an Alchemist of little repute. If it were otherwise his works would have been preserved and his name recorded in history. Instead, his works have been lost or reduced to introductory material for Acolytes and only serve to add to the legend of Sorzus Syn as their name echoes through the annals of history.

Without intent, The Author has perfectly captured the underlying truth of Sith Alchemy, that any aspirant must understand and accept. Alchemy is a path that leads to the destruction of many but immortality for the few. Those who accept this, and do not buckle in the face of their own potential, could see themselves ascend to the ranks of the few.

A Reflection by Acolyte Agran

The recovered excerpt, attributed to an unknown Sith Lord from the era of 1,600 BTC, offers a valuable perspective into the structure and dangers of Sith Alchemy. Though much of the tome is lost what survives is hardly trivial or of little value. On the contrary, its value lies not only in what it outright teaches, but mostly in what it reveals: Sith Alchemy is not merely knowledge but risk, intent, and transformation.

The passage begins with mentions of Sithspawn, creatures such as Tuk’ata and War Hydra, engineered weapons of war. These are not aberrations but deliberate transformations, the result of alchemy used with purpose, the purpose to twist what is natural into what is necessary. But it is not all about the Sithspawn, however.

The author showcased a distinct reverence for Sorzus Syn, presenting them as the pinnacle of the alchemic tradition, having come to the Sith people after Alchemy had already been created, and yet found ways to improve and perfect it through her mastery over the Force, a testament that limits can always be broken and surpassed with the right aptitude.

Past this preamble there's a distinct division made, between nonliving and living alchemy, wisely made with methodical clarity. Nonliving alchemy appears to be more approachable given their own Apprentices' success in picking it up to start with, and it involves utilizing inorganic matter for the crafting of talismans, weapons, and artifacts. The reasoning behind the greater ease of non-living alchemy as opposed to living alchemy resides in a Theory soon expressed by the Author, the Theory of Natural Resistance.

A term unfamiliar to me, yet intuitive, which recalls me of the Force Resistance that most Force Sensitive like us Sith carry within themselves.This theory affirms that living cells resist and fight back the transformation imparted onto them, unlike inorganic matter, thus making living alchemy challenging.

An example is promptly made of a tool crafted through non-living Sith Alchemy, the Aximand Amulet. A tool that, contrary to what one would expect from a Sith, is not aimed to strike, wound or kill- but to protect. The Author had discovered that certain poisons radiated different auras, and by aligning this Amulet to those auras he was able to discern when certain foods, drinks and the like were poisoned as the crafted piece promptly resonated and vibrated whenever brought near to them. Utility with almost no cost.

The contrary of what living-alchemy appears to be. What seems to attract the most aspirants that flock to the Author for their knowledge, despite the fact that it is destructive and out of reach if not for the most experienced Sith.

It can thus be used to shape the living matter, just like the engineered creatures mentioned at the beginning, creatures modified to serve the sole purpose of bringing death, altered beyond recognition and potentially painfully so.

Yet, taking from Sith Andnoa's words, philosophy and wisdom, if the Dark Side is a poison nobody would wish to cure themselves of, this branch of Alchemy is a direct injection of it- tenfold, fast acting, shifting the user as much as the subject in a new high, and height, of power, and here the Author's warning: "Living alchemy will not serve you, it will destroy you."

As such, in the end it once more all comes to the core of all that is Sith.
Power, unchecked and wielded without proper preparation and purposes is destructive.
One can achieve it, and grasp it for a mere moment before finding annihilation.
One can seek it, and die on the path of reaching it.
But to long for it is our nature, and to eventually hold it within ourselves is our destiny.
It is only a matter of being strong enough to survive it.

After a lesson with Sith Stuza, Lord Sarias offered a secondary goal of providing a personal critique of the document on 'The Ancient Art of Alchemy'. Below is the thoughts and feelings of Acolyte Magdalene Thall.

In a recent lesson with Sith Andnoa, we discussed the history of Jen'jidai, the Dark Lords who splintered from the Jedi many, many years ago. Their mastery of the Force allowed for many great things including the power of Sith Alchemy augmented beyond the wildest dreams of the ancient Sith by Sorzus Syn. The writer of the original document offers his envy and jealous of her power as an apparent state that all should be afflicted by, yet at the end wards us off grasping the power that would rival the greatest. A weakness that I personally find detestable; a demonstration of the cowardly nature of the author.

It has been reiterated time and time again that Sith do not grow without reaching for the impossible as the Dark Side allows for power that many consider... unnatural; a sentiment that the Jedi hunt us for. To challenge the impossible is why Lord Sarias herself is such a great master of the art form. I would be remiss to negate the drawbacks that come with such great power but that is simply the nature of the Dark Side. We either steep ourself in it and become great or lose our names to the annals of history. Thus, in my opinion, the debate between Living and Non-Living subjects is obvious: we break our chains by breaking nature and those who abide by it.

However, it is a disservice to the author to not mention the quality of alchemy to create weapons or useful items that benefit a willing Sith. To boast survival of 17 attempts at poisoning whilst demonstrating a unique ability to recognise poisonous auras is a feat many Sith can fail to attain. Yet, despite all the grandiose words, their name is not remembered and yet Sorzus Syn is forever etched in the annals of our history.

Therefore, my final statement is thus: thrive in the thrill of danger for only the most fearsome of pressures can crafted the deadliest blade.

The Legacy of Pall: Power, Structure and Cunning

A Reflection by Acolyte Agran

Once more I have listened, and once more I find myself writing to consolidate and engrave Sith Andnoa’s words of knowledge and wisdom onto this file, voicing my thoughts, and in doing so, giving proper form to my own reflection.

Sith Andnoa spoke of Ajunta Pall, the first Dark Lord of the Sith, and of the Jen’jidai who followed him. What struck me most was not the power they commanded, but how carefully it was wielded. Pall did not conquer through brute force, he conquered through insight, wit, and cunning. With only thirteen at his side, he overthrew a ruling king, claimed a foreign world, and ruled unopposed for decades. That is not the story of any warrior. That is the work of a tactician.

Pall's first move was not a direct assault. Instead, he turned the King’s own Shadowhand, Graush’s enforcers, against him. Through manipulation or promise, he turned loyal servants into silent allies and claimed victory without lifting a finger, with a quiet, elegant method. No armies. No open war. Just the right pressure, applied in the right place. That is a lesson worth remembering: power does not always need to be seen to be felt. The most dangerous blade is the one no one notices until it’s already drawn.

But killing the king is not the same as keeping the throne.

Sith Andnoa reminded us that Pall understood this well. To secure his rule, he declared himself the Avatar of Typhojem, an ancient god in Sith belief. The Kissai priesthood accepted the claim, and with their blessing, the people soon followed- like the flock they are. That lie gave Pall something that force alone could not: the utmost right to rule. He became not just a ruler but a symbol, the prophet that was promised.

Some might call it blasphemy. I call it strategy. There is nothing sacred about power, except the illusion that surrounds it. A lie, told well enough, lasts longer than fear. And no skill, no lightsaber form, no Force technique is more essential than the ability to speak with purpose and make others listen. That is its own kind of domination, and one worth exploring and embracing.

Still, even belief must be managed. Pall did not crush the thirteen who followed in his shadow. He gave them a place. He directed their purpose, and shaped their ambition into structure. Roles, ranks, a system where the ambitious could rise without directly threatening his seat. This is the most dangerous kind of control: one that offers opportunity while keeping the highest seat just out of reach.

But in the end, as Sith Andnoa made clear, none of these methods matter if one is not strong enough to defend what they’ve built. Pall’s rule endured not only because he lied well or planned carefully, but because no one could overcome him. Structure, manipulation, deception- they are all tools. Useful, even essential, but they mean nothing without the will, the strength, and the raw power to use them when the moment demands it.

This is what I took from the lesson, in the end: Power must be more than pure strength. It must be shaped with intent, secured with structure, and wielded with clarity. Not for the sake of recognition or ambition only, but because when disorder inevitably erupts, it is not the loudest who endure, but the ones who planned for the fire before it started.

These are my reflections, shaped by my experience, my understanding, and my own passions. They are not absolute, nor are they meant to be. Others are welcome to draw their own conclusions. If anything within these words stirs thought or challenges certainty, then I have succeeded. Let it be a spark- for each Sith must forge their own path to truth.

On Sorcery, Power, and the Price of Ambition

A Reflection by Acolyte Agran

Yesterday, Sith Andnoa "asked" us to listen, and so I did. He asked us to question, and in my ways I have. He told a tale of blood and fire, of sorcery and power, of peaks and falls. Allow me then to offer my own reflection, not to flatter, but simply to show that I have heard, and to impart onto others the insight offered by Sith Andnoa.

He began by asking what defines mastery of a skill. My answer was functional: consistency, adaptability, and the capacity to teach. Yet his lesson showed me that Sorcery, like all disciplines of the Force, transcends formality. It is not mere repetition, but evolution. This, I believe, aligns perfectly with the Sith Code: "Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory." Passion alone is not enough. Unshaped, it is akin to wildfire - destructive but directionless. Sith Andnoa made clear that true Sith shaped - and still shape - that fire into tools, rituals, and weapons. They bind it with will. That is where sorcery resides - not as mysticism, but as domination through structure. The Kissai understood this. So did Aleema Keto. And so must I.

Sith Andnoa focused on a phrase I used: "to adapt it accordingly to one's needs." His example, comparing a Force Push to a Force Wave, revealed the importance of blending, modifying, and innovating. This is the lesson that struck me most. The Force may be vast and ancient, but it yields to those who shape it. Sorcery, rituals, gestures, incantations - these are not crutches, but scaffolds. They shape the mind and direct the will, like a soldier’s training or a Sith’s saber form. They make the strange repeatable, the impossible manageable. To adapt a power is to own it - to make it an extension of oneself.

His tale of Aleema Keto and Satal, of Exar Kun and Uliq Qel-Droma, was not just a story. It struck me as a warning. They had power, but not discipline. They knew hunger, but not cost. Aleema burned a star cluster to ashes and herself with it, thinking herself a match for Naga Sadow. She was, but unmeasured power devours the wielder first, and as such victory was hers but for a brief moment. This speaks to my pragmatism. I do not fear power, but I respect what it extracts in return. Sorcery is not free. Its cost is often written in blood and decay- one's own or another’s. I believe this is where Sith Andnoa’s teaching intersects with my patriotism: a Sith who dies fruitlessly is a loss to the Empire. One who survives, learns, and grows stronger is a future pillar of it, for as much as they will inevitably find their end, it need not be now.

Sith Andnoa spoke of the Kissai with reverence. I have taken that to heart, perhaps because I still search for answers to the Sith-blood that runs in my veins - from where it truly hails. They were warriors of the mind, an impressive feat, for their power resided not solely in Force sensitivity, but in ritual knowledge - from knowing where to press in reality to make it bend. I find that concept inspiring. The Kissai blended the structured and the volatile, the calculated and the passionate. That, to me, is a powerful archetype of a Sith: intellect and will, bound together with just purpose.

His lesson was not confined to the craft of Sorcery - it illuminated the nature of ambition, caution, and the dangers of endless hunger for power. It was about the clarity of vision needed to walk roads others fear to tread. Sith Andnoa taught that names - Force Push, Force Wave, Krath, Kissai - are somewhat less important than the functions they serve. He taught that power is real, but that it must be guided by wisdom. Most of all, he taught that legacy is built not solely in blind arrogance, but in intention.

May this reflection serve not as conclusion nor dogma to abide to, but as invitation to study with discernment, to wield with intention, and to remember that power without understanding is its own undoing. If Sith Andnoa’s teachings reach you through these words, may they sharpen more than your hunger, may they temper it and sparkle the flames of change within yourselves towards improvement, for stagnation is the death of any self-respecting Sith.

Style
Form 1 is a simple but effective style both in and out of combat. Primarily consisting of wide sweeping/arcing motions with the blade with an astute focus on disarming and blows to body target zones. To aid in these priorities, it is crucial to employ use of the Sun Djem, Cho Mai and Cho Sun marks of contact. Or any other techniques of disarming that may prove fruitful. And in keeping with the theme of simplicity, keep strikes mostly intended on specific target zones. Though this is more a guideline than a rule - there are always opportunities that will require breaking this idea. Lastly, is the idea of unpredictability, something the form demands yet keeps juxtaposed with wanting simplicity. I will address this further in the essay alongside my own queries about it. I have noticed some applying uses of a pivot on the back foot, or twisting hips when swinging for extra strength. This is something I would advise against. Shii-Cho doesn’t often require lots of strength and telegraphing such attacks may prove a disservice to the “unpredictability” part of the style.

Outside of combat, there are a fair number of lessons that can be imparted from Form 1. Firstly, there’s the reinforcement and fortitude going back to the basics can give. Regardless of my currently novice ability in saber forms, I can always appreciate a lesson I’ve found to be true throughout life. It is often the case people overlook, or at the very least forget, the foundational pillars they’ve built a skill off of. Be it in solving a scholarly problem, tackling an unfamiliar situation, or in this case approaching a style of combat. Sometimes the biggest advantage you can have over others is a better understanding of the pillars that hold everything up. Another possible lesson could likewise be in its approach to facing multiple opponents. Not every situation and experience you will come across will have the odds in your favour. This disheartens some, emboldens others. Shii-Cho would fall upon the latter of these options. Should you face a difficult situation, sometimes all that’s needed is simply a more appropriate set of tools to address it. Wide swings and crowd control for Shii-Cho being the literal example here.

Beyond this though, there are surely other bits of wisdom we can extrapolate from Shii-Cho. It is here I wish to challenge the reader to think of their own, be it with Form 1 or any other Form they wish.

Titles
The Tutorial form, the way of the Sarlacc, the Determination form. Shii-cho goes under many monikers, all of which tie closely to its purpose and philosophy.

The first of the seven forms and known (in)famously for its simplicity and utilisation as a starter form. A form from which even the most novice can learn and brand upon themselves the foundations that will grow into the following forms that sparked across history. Hence the idea of it being a “tutorial” form.

Its other titles such as the “way of the Sarlacc” and “Determination form” likewise come with purpose. The first of which is suspected to be in light of Form 1’s longevity and reliability as a fallback style. It will never come out of fashion due to this and as such, like the creature, will preserve for millenia to come. Or it could in an ironic sense be purely a simple metaphor for the long sweeping attacks of Shii-cho. Similar to the beast's long tentacles.

Lastly, we address its denomination as the “Determination Form”. It’s here I have yet to conclude a compelling argument. Take for example, the workings of “Acolyte Varn” from so long ago. Who determined that the name was with respect to the idea of controlling and “determining” the movements of your opponents when fighting groups. However to call this a stretch would be in my personal opinion an understatement. As the form does not often compel your opponent to make specific moves - and you can hardly call utilising footwork and determining how your opponent will react a skill solely attributed to Shii-Cho. With this in mind, I will continue to question my peers and superiors to gain further insight.

History
Records suggest that Shii-Cho was developed during the era of physical blades, possibly overlapping into the proto-saber stage. However cryptic and sweeping the exact time may be, there is one obvious fact that can be used to see what the era must’ve been like. With Form 1’s general focus on combat against groups, one may think it an appropriate form for wartime. Following this idea, we know there can’t have been a particular trend of duels between force users, due to Shii-Cho’s disadvantage in that area. Indicating a level of peace between them for the most part. From what I can surmise, I would likely go as far as to say the form was probably created in an era of peace before the separation of dark jedi and jedi. And was probably used as a form of basic self-defence for those that wielded a sword. After discussion with the Blademaster, Sith D’oemir, I have come to conclude that this form was indeed still effective in war. Although its ease of disarming techniques, its wide swinging motions make it incredibly effective for large quantities of enemies. Furthermore, its capability as a safe fall-back form makes it perfect when one should be overwhelmed. Another aspect great for wartime activities.

Hasso Guard -
Diagonal blade angle allows the protection of zones 1-4 as well as the ability to slide the blade up and down upon impact. Providing both an offence to disarm as well as a defence against the same thing.

Reverse Hasso Guard -
Scooping motion to attacks against you aimed at zones 5 and 6.

Training
Training with Form 1 usually consists of direct, horizontal and vertical slashes. Defensive motions furthermore are completely perpendicular to the incoming threat. This is useful in practising basic movements as well as velocities should you have a partner to reciprocate movements. When outside the estate, it will likely be the case that you will run into more blaster wielding foes than lightsabers. Due to this it may be best to practise some methodology to blaster deflection. Whether with the use of a droid/probe, or with a partner throwing objects. This will admittedly be a low-priority type of training, but nevertheless useful.

For all forms of training, I strongly suggest the use of a partner or third party to watch your movements. When training alone, you will only embed the faults you cannot perceive.

Despite this fact, I’m sure myself and many others will still occasionally be forced into lonesome training at some point. When this is the case, prioritise exercises that fall short in scrutiny like body/fitness training. Or alternatively, request use of a type of recording system to review footage of your training another time.

Additionally, ‘Dulon’ may be a useful companion alongside velocities for training. This, according to the archives, shares a definition with a lightsaber manoeuvre. A defensive parry followed by a reliable counter-attack. The pommel held at your midsection, blade up and brought back around the body to slash at a high velocity. But I digress from the ‘Dulon’ that matters here. A training method where, should you find yourself solo, you practise known sequences against imaginary opponents. Akin to a form of shadow-boxing.

What makes it good as a foundation?
Here, there are a myriad of reasons we can call to. The tutorial forms basic and straightforward bladework, offering an easy starting point to learn from for other forms. On top of that, there’s little massively complex footwork, nor a combination or requirement of intense force aid. It is, perhaps intendedly, the definition of easy to learn but hard to master.

Outside this, there’s also a relatively low tax on the body, mind and spirit that other forms may require. Though it should be noted this is primarily with the beginning stages of the form, not its expert and masterful levels. With no incredible acrobatics, emotional outbursts of energy or deep inner philosophy you need to keep track of.

And whilst I know little of the other forms, it’s hard to imagine them not drawing at least in some part from the basics taught in Shii-Cho’s swings, target zones, training and marks of contact.

Balancing simplicity and unpredictability
This is a tricky idea that truthfully, I am yet to fully comprehend in its fullest. I suppose if I do this early in my calling as a Sith, I would be classed a master.

It’s likely to be as hard as it sounds, trying to balance simplicity and unpredictability in an intense concentration of your every movement. With the only things I can think of being doing everything you can as a fighter to not telegraph your next movement or attack, meaning no long wound up strikes and keeping everything bare bones. Perhaps on top of this, even going as far as to throw some feints or general misdirection. But the strikes themselves shouldn’t go as far as to be acrobatic or daring in nature.

If I were to improve or add onto the form, what would I do?

This part of the essay was purely a challenge to myself to assist in the Sith mindset of constant improvement. I do not take myself to be better than those that have clearly mastered the form in their own regard. And most certainly do not suspect my ideas to be unchallenged.

After reviewing the form throughout the creation of this essay, as well as intense reading of past essays in the archives, I’ve come to what I believe to be two short-comings on its guard. Firstly, those using the guard may be more susceptible to Shiak motions depending on the position of their opening stance’s hilt. Secondly; it’s front position of the blade, forward leaning posture and requirement to not telegraph attacks may make it hard to enact explicitly powerful blows. With this in mind I would propose that the opening stance should focus almost solely on an upward tilted blade held a little to the side. Such that you can more easily bash stabbing motions left or right. Ignoring an opening stance that has the blade held downwards forty five degrees. Then, to try and rectify its lack of power, either encourage use of force abilities in combination with the form more. Like force augmentation and so on. Or instead encourage less unpredictability to enhance the advantage a two-handed grip should already use in its power based blows.

A Sith’s Role In War

The ideology of the Sith is to rule those who stand beneath them. This concept applies to the battlefield as much as any aspect of life. As a Sith, one is a natural leader. Once spotted, one can either induce fear, or hope to the souls of men and aliens. This unique trait allows the sith to alter the course of war. As sith, we strike fear into the hearts of our enemies. The sight of us can make them lose their morale, abandon their hope. As sith, we must utilize this as often as possible. By storming Republic defenses, they can abandon their posts, allowing Imperial forces to advance into enemy territory where hundreds of Imperials would otherwise be lost. This trait, while appearing strong, has a much stronger counterpart. That of being able to boost the morale of your troops. People who fight with conviction in their hearts, fight with such a ferocity that is only seen in Sith and wild animals. To Imperials, we as sith stand as the peak of society. The true power of the Empire. Wherever we are, they know that victory is near. This too can turn the tide of a battle.

A Sith can affect the tide of war in other ways than just affecting the troops. A single Sith has the power to fight for a hundred. Their unique skills allow them to take on missions that a normal imperial cannot. With the force on our side, we are perfectly suited for covert missions. Infiltration and extraction. This is crucial in war, as we can more safely acquire information to our troops so that they know how and when to engage the enemy.

Frontline Commander:
The frontline commander's greatest asset lies in their access to real-time information and the ability to react swiftly to changing circumstances. With firsthand knowledge of the ever-evolving battlefield, they can adapt their strategies on the fly, leveraging the Force to transmit vital intelligence and alter plans in the heat of combat. This agility grants them a crucial edge, allowing them to stay one step ahead of their adversaries and seize opportunities as they arise.

Moreover, frontline commanders play a pivotal role in shaping the morale of their troops and sowing discord among their enemies. Through the judicious application of fear-inducing powers like Force lightning, they instill terror in the hearts of Republic soldiers, causing them to falter and flee in the face of overwhelming darkness. By diminishing the resolve of their opponents, frontline commanders pave the way for decisive Imperial victories on the battlefield.

Rearline Commander:

Operating from the rear, a Sith commander must contend with the inherent lag in receiving updates on individual skirmishes and engagements. This delay can hinder their ability to respond swiftly to changing circumstances, potentially resulting in missed opportunities or strategic missteps. Furthermore, the possibility of receiving flawed or outdated intelligence further complicates matters, requiring the commander to discern truth from misinformation amidst the fog of war.

However, for a Sith of sufficient strength and cunning, the position of Rearline commander can be a potent vantage point from which to exert influence. The purpose of the study was to test whether Gizka toxin could be used to control captive populations of Gizka without killing them as long as they stayed within a confined area. It was hypothesised that a small enough concentration of the Toxin would be effective in carrying out this purpose.

The Gizka was kept within a designated confinement zone and fed uncontaminated food and water that had a dilution of the Toxin within. Each day vitals, fertility and toxicology levels were monitored to ensure the subject’s health remained and to monitor the toxins effects on them.

Each week that the Gizka remained unaffected by the dose it was raised by 5 nanograms until on the third week the Gizka’s kidney function increased, the dose was not lowered however the Gizka began to deteriorate, so the dose was lowered by 2.5 nanograms to a level of 7.5 nanograms as the fertility rate was showing a marked decline. Eventually at the fourth week the fertility rate was dropped to zero and while the Gizka’s blood work showed kidney and liver damage this could be put down to the previous overdose.
