Special Operations Detachment: Leviathan

The announcement file comes with a holorecording that would play once the file had successfully downloaded, and a transcript that contained the detail. The Imperial voice that spoke was clean and crisp, befitting of an Imperial announcer.

“Task Force: Leviathan was previously recognised for its service and distinction under the 294th Infantry battalion, at the time the newly formed task force, operational parameters and freedoms were limited by their proximity and attachment to the battalion. With the growing threats both domestic and foreign, the newly reignited war; Leviathan is to be reorganised to better streamline the force and give clarity of purpose, once again.”“By orders of General Rackus Bastion II and by approval of the Ministry of War; Task Force Leviathan is to be reformed into the Special Operations Detachment (S.O.D) of the 142nd Kaas Division designation: Leviathan. This will officially reinforce the growing flexibility and individuality of the Unit operations with Sith of the powerbase and on their own.”

“Leviathan now falls under direct control of Division Command located on Sernpidal, rather than being battalion-linked as before and as such their operations will be directly tied to the Northern Territories, where they will execute division-level special operations, rapid-response actions, and joint missions with sanctioned Sith assets in order to secure Imperial interests, suppress insurgent activity, and project decisive force in contested zones.”

“To oversee this restructuring and to co-ordinate Leviathan in achieving its objectives, S.O.D Leviathan will be helmed by a new Officer Corps, Leviathan will now have clear leadership beneath a limited command structure, where only one of each Officer Corps rank can be fulfilled within Leviathan at any one time. This Officer Corps will be structured as follows:

  • Ensign - Vacant (Awaiting Assessment)
  • Lieutenant - Vacant (Awaiting Assessment)
  • Captain - Vacant (Awaiting Assessment)
  • Major - Major Jackler Koren

Additionally, Leviathan will undergo extensive upskilling to ensure key skills and roles are fulfilled; this means that Privates formerly serving in Task Force Leviathan will undertake a mandatory reassessment and retraining period under the authority of the 142nd Kaas Division Training Command. This process will ensure operational readiness, unit cohesion, and conformity to new special operations doctrine; success shall award them the rank of Specialist, the new minimum requirement for service within S.O.D Leviathan.”

And as soon as it had started, the brief recording was done.

Operation Guidelines:

  • Leviathan operates at the platoon and squad level. Increasing the capability and flexibility afforded to the unit. The Force Commander is a flexible position to allow for appropriate individuals to hold command if the need arises. The current Force Commander is: Major Jackler Koren until one such replacement is available.

  • All ranks present within the S.O.D are expected to operate on the field together seamlessly no matter the rank. The highest ranking officer present, typically the a Sergeant or Sergeant Staff Grade will be entrusted to give mission and squad command to the appropriate personnel based on judgement and mission briefings. It is then the role of the squad lead to build up fire teams as they see fit, including the placement of any soldiers available at that time.

  • Squads and fire teams formed for missions are not permanent assignments, they last for the duration of a mission and are disbanded upon completion. This allows for any collection of soldiers within Leviathan to operate together no matter previous squad interactions.

  • S.O.D. Leviathan remains formally classified under the broader umbrella of Imperial Infantry, but operates as a Special Operations Detachment within the 142nd Kaas Division. As such, Leviathan personnel are permitted to train into a defined set of Infantry Support Roles approved by Division Command using the standard Imperial Certifications Regime. These roles enhance the Detachment’s operational flexibility but do not remove its core identity as elite infantry.

  • Any roles, abilities, or combat functions outside the authorised Infantry Support Roles and certification pathways are not permitted, and must fall within the scope of Division-sanctioned classifications. The same restrictions apply to gear, armour variants, and weapon systems — all equipment must be obtained through the Imperial Quartermaster or formally issued through Division Command.

  • As the S.O.D remains one platoon out of a company it is composed of 100 soldiers, however only 20 are capable of deployment aboard The Herald at a time, the remaining 80 can function as reinforcements but are otherwise deployed locally, through division infrastructure

  • The S-Class Light Star Cruiser: The Herald functions as the heart and home of Leviathan. Trusted to care for the ship and treat the naval crew with respect it is nonetheless a weapon to be deployed in the completion of the mission parameters, but if the resource is squandered or misused it can be removed and returned to active line duty within the Imperial Navy.

  • Disagreements and conflicts between Leviathan members are to be overseen by the Officer Corps primarily, with the Force Commander and the Pentarch of War available to settle major disputes and to handle discipline in regards to interactions with the wider Imperial Army and the Sith Order. Conflicts between Imperials and Sith receive no tolerance.

  • All prior rules and regulations set down by Division Command or other authorities remain in effect for S.O.D: Leviathan.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
